Rookies 190

Hey all,
It’s my pleasure to be able to release more Rookies today. Yeah, it’s been a while, especially after I mentioned last time hoping to speed things up. Mostly been my fault, hadn’t really felt like typesetting any due to being really busy and all (and having to fill in and do some karate cleaning a week or so back as well). Anyway, Rookies is back now, and I will endeavor to get more chapters out.

So yeah, grab the latest chapter from our Forums or Irc Channel. Check out our joint partner Illuminati-Manga as well, they do some pretty cool series also.

sad to see no more Peace Maker , even after the donation drive , and ordering all the recent volumes. This title had more ups and downs than any other series here.

Haven’t we been saying for months that we need cleaners? Did anyone apply? Why are you surprised now?

You gotta love how people ignore our calls for help, then demand chapters like we HAVE to do it…. >_>

I apologize , if I came across as “demanding” , it wasn’t my intention. I am aware of your staffing troubles, you are making it clear every time you post new chapters. But that is what puzzles me, you turn out some of your series’ at a very decent pace, very decent indeed. could these staff members put these projects on hold and take up on projects that has been left behind? Or maybe not.
Again, please don’t take my inquiry the wrong way, I don’t demand anything, in fact I am grateful for even those few chapters of Peace Maker that you menage to post a year.

Kevin, this is NOT a job. We won’t force people to work on mangas they aren’t interested in. So the mangas that get released more regularly, are the ones who have staff that enjoy the series. It’s as simple as that.
Also, you say projects that have been left behind, but Peace Maker is a lot closer to being finished (or caught up rather) than any of our other projects. Karate is 30+ volumes behind japan, Peace Maker, 3.
At the end of the day, the project doesn’t have a dedicated cleaner. So it gets put on my pile of stuff to do when I have the time. So you know, at least Peace Maker has had a decent amount of releases in the last 9 months or so, something like Hanagata has got far less.

I’m gonna add that scanlation is usually described as “by fans for fans”. You need fans of the manga in order to release it, and not just any fans, but ones who are willing to dedicate some of their free time to it. We’re lucky to have found a tler who’s a fan of the manga, but not so lucky with editors. And that’s despite the fact that even if you don’t know how to do it, we’ll still take you and teach you.

fede, if you just post here, we don’t have any means of contacting you. So please register on our forum and make a post in the recruitment section. (Well, typically, we never hear from the potential recruit after this.)

Kevin, I was talking about the “where karate?” guy. I said in one of my previous posts that I would love to typeset 2 KSKM chapters a week, someone2040 would love to QC and release them, cmertb would love to translate them, and kyuubi654… Well, I don’t know how the cleaners feel about all those damn redraws, but I can take a wild guess… 😛

Also, someone2040 would love to not have to clean and QC the occasional Peace Maker and Shibatora if there were enough dedicated people working on them. And the readers would LOVE getting more chapters of their favorite series, I’m sure. Everyone’s happy in that scenario (except for us, who still have to work).
